What is a Share Registry?
A share registry is an organization that works on behalf of a listed entity such as companies and funds, to manage the entity’s register of shareholders. Some responsibilities include:
- Maintaining an accurate record of shareholder transactions and holdings
- Issuing holding statements
- Managing dividend payments
- Managing bonuses and right issues
All ASX-listed entities have a dedicated share registry that shareholders can contact about their holdings.

Computershare

Link Market Services is Australia’s second-largest registry with over 500 ASX holdings. Some of their clients include Commonwealth Bank, Westpac, Telstra, and Betashare’s funds.

Automic Group
Automic Group has been a fast-growing provider with now over 400 clients. Their clients are usually small and mid-cap companies. They have no major fund clients yet.

Boardroom
Boardroom is the fourth largest registry in terms of ASX clients. Boardroom group providers services for 250 clients at the time of writing. Most of their clients are small and mid-cap companies. They do provide services for some blue-chip clients including; Aristocrat Leisure, Ramsay Health Care and Magellan.
